During the meeting the problems of concern to the Association were addressed: the urgency for more financial aid to Macedonia, the solution to the problem with the name, and the need for providing greater support for the Macedonian government for fighting terrorism.

The Senator informed the members about  his activities related to the situation in Macedonia.  He outlined his participation in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly resolution on non-negotiations with the terrorists in Macedonia.  He informed the delegation about his intentions to raise these issues once again on the floor of the Senate, and to continue to educate the American public on the connection between the events in Kosovo and the terrorism in Macedonia. Senator Voinovich voiced his concern with the pervasive corruption in Macedonia, and pointed it out as one of the main hurdles to attracting private foreign investment.  He underscored the critical importance of private foreign investment for economic development and stability of the region.
